None of us wants to look in the mirror and see the dreaded “double chin.” While a double chin can be a consequence of weight gain, normal diet and exercise to lose weight won’t necessarily give you the results you want in the chin and neck area. For those results, you’ll want to consider Kybella®.
What Is Kybella®?
Kybella® is a formulation of deoxycholic acid. This is a molecule that occurs naturally in the body with the function of breaking down fat. The fat that collects under the chin and gives a “double chin,” is called submental fat. When Kybella® is injected into submental fat, it breaks down fat cells and helps prevent future fat from storing there. This allows us to contour the neck area and give your chin a more balanced look.
Am I a Good Candidate for Kybella®?
If you are noticing excess fat or skin under your chin, what people call a “double chin,” you may be a good candidate for Kybella®. This is especially true if you have lost weight recently but that submental fat remains stubborn and won’t go away. When you come into Aspire Skin + Wellness for your consultation, Wendy Brown, RN, will hear your concerns and help you find the right treatment for you, which, when dealing with submental fat will often be Kybella®.
How Does Kybella® Work?
When you come in for Kybella treatment, Wendy will first mark out the target area and treat it with a numbing agent to make you more comfortable. She will then inject the Kybella® into the target area using several very tiny needles. The process is over in minutes. You can expect some swelling and feelings of warmth in the target area following the procedure, but it should fade quickly. Over time, the amount of fat in this area should diminish. We recommend 3-5 sessions for best results.
